PROLOGUE:
May 23rd, 1945 – Auschwitz II-Birkenau, Poland
Heinrich Himmler
"Damn! Did they need to insert the needle in that deep?!" said Heinrich, walking back towards his barracks. Hitler and his scientists were in the process of trialling a brand-new vaccine on SS soldiers to further purify the genes of the Aryan race, altering and enhancing the muscle cells of the participants.
"I think I'm going to go and have a little lay down," Himmler said to a soldier, "tell them not to disturb me unless it is important".
The Reichsführer crawled into his military-issued bed and shortly fell into a deep sleep.
A few days later…
The Auschwitz II is the final resting place of millions of Jews. Heinrich Himmler was sure of that. With the gas chambers out of order in an attempt to evade being made known of the activities of the Nazis, Himmler was in the midst of clearing out his office before making his way back to Berlin. The Allies were closing in and Himmler was adamant that he would not be captured as he was sure that the event would result in his death. His desk was cleared and all he had left to do was inform his men of his retreat. Fear struck deep in the heart of Heinrich and he knew that he was on borrowed time. Whilst Himmler was still dressed in the garb of the SS, he had planned to ditch the uniform once outside of the camp. Posing as an Allied soldier was the key aspect of his plan but Himmler knew it would be difficult to pull off without a hitch. All of the roads leading out of Poland were heavily guarded by Nazi infantry, Himmler's uniform would help him get past the road blocks with ease as long he acted normal and did not raise any suspicion. Thinking about the plan made Heinrich extremely nervous, he vomited into the tin garbage bucket beside his military desk.
Himmler thought about the days when he was moving up the ranks of the SS. "Nonsense" - that was the word Adolf Hitler had used to describe the Reichsführer's interests, and still Heinrich continued to succeed in moving up the pyramid scheme that Hitler created. The Führer was the apex of the pyramid but Himmler was insistent in taking the position for himself. Himmler killed his only competition when he slit the throat of Minister of Armaments and War Production for the Third Reich, Albert Speer. Speer was not the first Nazi soldier that Himmler had murdered. Resentment grew in Himmler as, Hitler's private secretary, Martin Bormann was given unlimited information and access to Hitler, such a thing was what the Reichsführer was after all along. Himmler was unconditionally obedient to Adolf Hitler and wanted to succeed Hitler as leader of the Reich within the near future. Bormann was in the way of that and Himmler saw to it that Bormann was disposed of: disguised as a Jew with a potato sack over his head, Bormann was killed by firing squad at the hands of his own men. The truth about Himmler's role in the death never became known and was something that he was going to take to his grave. The soldiers thought that the Jews had fooled them into killing one of their own leading to the mass slaying of hundreds of Jewish people for no reason at all. SS Reichsführer Heinrich Himmler rose up through the ranks of the SS and established himself as an asset not only to the Nazis but to the whole of Germany.
With the death of Adolf Hitler fresh in the thoughts of every Nazi soldier, they were confused as to why he had committed suicide but Himmler knew that the assassination of Italian dictator Benito Mussolini had caused Hitler a great deal of stress. Hitler had put his pistol to his head and pulled the trigger when Soviet soldiers were within a block of the Reich Chancellery. Now was Heinrich Himmler's chance at becoming the leader of Germany.
Himmler was brought back to reality when he heard loud noises coming from outside. He could hear that there were guns being shot, the Allies had arrived and the onslaught had begun. Grabbing hold of his briefcase and running for the door, the Reichsführer knew exactly what needed to be done before he could escape. A raging storm broke out in the darkening sky, clouds cloaking the only source of light coming from outside. Rain poured down the windows while forks of lightning lit up the sky in flashes of bright light. Himmler ran down the main corridor leading to the gas tanks that brought death to the Jews, avoiding puddles that were forming due to leaks in the ceiling. As he reached the block that held the gas tanks, Himmler hurried along the hall to where the stability levers were kept. Water sloshed around his boots as he switched on the master power lever. Fumes of gas radiated up into his nostrils alerting him to a malfunction with the pipes leading to the gas tanks. Himmler hastily attempted to switch the master power lever off but to no avail. Pulling with all of his strength didn't help Himmler and his fear grew. His hand gripped the lever tightly. Water splashed around his ankles. Lightning struck and hit a gas tank in which the pipes had just released gas into with the pull of the master power lever. Nothing but whiteness and burning pain. The brief odour of searing flesh. Time settled and Auschwitz was no more. Nothing was left except for a large void and various debris from the surrounding buildings.
Heinrich Luitpold Himmler, Reichsführer of the SS, was no longer human. The gas had destroyed his body; however the electrical current that surged through his being caused his cells and recently-altered DNA to mutate into something new. His cells replicated the structure of the metal lever that Heinrich had a grip on; the replication eventually consumed the soldier allowing Himmler to take form of a human of metal substance. Himmler was still alive.
